Testing the mahj blog

Hello, everyone.
Here I am testing out this new blog.  I am hoping that all you players out there will log in and say hello.  I get a lot of people accessing the rules for Modern American Mahjongg, also known as National Mah Jongg League mahjongg, and have been getting questions from people all over the country.  There are a lot of new players out there, and everyone loves the game.   I'd love to communicate with other players and share strategies and discuss the ins and outs of our beloved passtime.
Happy mahj!
Linda

  1. Hello

My friends and I are confused. We are currently playing clockwise according to the booklet in the box of MJ tiles and case.

Your rules say break wall to left; pass tiles to right of East and play to right of East.

Why is there such a difference? Which is the correct way?

If we ever do play in tournaments, (are the tournaments National or American and what are the difference of the 2 cards and names?) which is the correct way we should be picking a tile? Clockwise or right of East? Help!

Second question; When making a like hand with dragons, do you exposed the 3 like numbered tiles along with the 3 dragon tiles when calling for a dragon(or number) to complete the 3 like number tiles along with the 3 matching dragon tiles; (6 tiles altogether) or …

Do you get to split it up (exposing half of the like group of 3 tiles and 3 matching dragons) by exposing just the 3 tiles, one of tiles which you called?

    Thank you,

    Kathleen Anthony
